Learn to sew with others in your community! Workshops are an opportunity to learn a new skill while meeting new people. Events are typically open to 10-20 participants and hosted at various locations. Check out our schedule of upcoming workshops below and practice a new skill alongside each other.

Level Two Sewing Machine Mini Retreat at Appalachian Homestead
Join us on September 19th from 10AM to 1PM to learn from Edgington Studio's founder, Emily Rouse, how to make a weighted flax and lavender neck pillow!
During this mini retreat we will first center and relax with meditation and yoga from arthritis expert, Kylie Ignace. Then we will get to sewing, learning the techniques needed create your own beautiful neck pillow. These pillows can be warmed or frozen to help keep relieve us during uncomfortable times. A delicious charcuterie board, complete with organic, local, and gluten free options will be shared. And a light stretch will be completed before leaving. Participants will be given time to Q&A with the instructors.
IMPORTANT:You must have come to one of our "Complete Beginner's Sewing Machine Retreat" (next one is on August 29th 10-12:30) to join us for this level 2 class.

Join us for a hands-on workshop with master seamstress, Emily Rouse, where she helps you learn how to set up your machine and navigate the basics so you feel confident in your sewing abilities! A grounding yoga practice with local yogi Kylie Ignace will relax us and a premium charcuterie will be provided. Just bring your machine and accessories/attachments and we will handle the rest! Tickets must be purchased in advance.

CU Society Presents: Decorative Mending with Edgington Studio
CU Society Presents: Decorative Mending with Edgington Studio
Learn hand-sewing embroidery stitches to use for visible mending and decoration! This is a beginner-friendly workshop. Participants will learn the satin stitch, chain stitch, couching stitch, French knot, back stitch, and whip stitch with a patch. All materials will be provided, but you can bring a garment to work on at the end! This workshop is open to ages 15 and older.
CU Society is sponsoring the event (which involves an associated cost per person), so we require attendees to register in advance.

CU Society Presents: Hem by Hand with Edgington Studio
Join CU Society on Tuesday, July 28 from 6-8:30pm in Wheeling for a FREE Hem-by-Hand workshop presented by Edgington Studio. In addition to learning a new skill, you’ll get to hear from Edgington Studio owner Emily Rouse about her work, how she’s leveraged innovation for her Wheeling-based business, and the importance of sewing as a skill today.
You’ll also learn more about CU Society, a new organization in West Virginia focused on bringing people together and preparing communities for the future.
No sewing machine, no problem! Learn how to hem pants with hand-sewing. This workshop will walk you through the techniques needed to measure, cut, and hand-sew pants for a proper hem. All materials will be provided, but you can bring your own pair of pants to work on at the end! Ages 15+. Registration required.

Hand Sewing and Mending Workshop with Explore and Edgington Studio
During the workshop, participants will learn a variety of stitching techniques—both decorative and functional—and use them to upcycle fabric swatches into an 8.5 x 11 fabric collage using decorative mending. All materials will be provided. You’re also welcome to bring a garment from home to practice mending and give it new life. The event is free and open to the public. Stop by at any time during the event. There is no advance registration required.

Kids Sew Keychains with Edgington Studio
Kids and parents, join us for “Kids Sew Keychains” with Edgington Studio! Learn two basic hand-sewing techniques while creating your own fun keychain to take home. This workshop is designed for kids ages 8 and older and their grown-ups to enjoy together! All materials will be provided. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Please note that kids may not be dropped off at this event. A parent or guardian must remain on-site for the duration of the workshop.
